He was not the moon, yet the moon seemed pale beside his glow,
His smile could make the sleeping flowers bloom and grow.

خاموش دلوں کا ترجمان

وہ چاند نہیں تھا، مگر چاند بھی اس سے روشنی مانگتا تھا،
وہ ہنستا تو موسم بھی پھولوں کا لباس پہن لیتا تھا۔

اس کی آنکھوں میں جیسے دعا کا سکون اُتر آیا ہو،
جو ایک بار دیکھ لے، وہ خود کو بھلا آیا ہو۔

زلفیں رات کی خوشبو لیے آہستہ بکھرتی تھیں،
ہوائیں بھی اُن کے لمس سے نرم ہوا کرتی تھیں۔

وہ چلتا تو راستے ادب سے جھک جاتے تھے،
خاموش پتھر بھی جیسے دھڑکنے لگ جاتے تھے۔

ہونٹوں پہ تبسم تھا یا کوئی میٹھی دعا،
سننے والا ہر لفظ کو سمجھتا تھا وفا۔

میں نے چاہا بھی تو لفظ کم پڑ گئے،
اس کے حسن کے آگے سارے تشبیہات تھم گئے۔

اے حسین! تیرا دیدار نصیبوں کی بات ہے،
کچھ چہرے دنیا میں نہیں، رب کی ایک خاص عنایت ہیں۔

वो चाँद नहीं था, मगर चाँद-सा नूर रखता था,
अपनी मुस्कान में जैसे फूलों का सुरूर रखता था।

उसकी आँखों में जैसे सुकून का समंदर था,
उसे देखना भी किसी खूबसूरत दुआ का असर था।

उसकी ज़ुल्फ़ें रात की तरह बिखर जाती थीं,
हवाएँ भी उन्हें छूकर महक जाती थीं।

वो चलता तो रास्ते भी सँवर जाते थे,
ख़ामोश लम्हे भी गीतों में ढल जाते थे।

उसके होंठों की हँसी गुलाबों-सी प्यारी थी,
उसकी हर अदा जैसे कोई नज़्म हमारी थी।

मैं उसके हुस्न को लफ़्ज़ों में कैसे उतारती,
हर बार लिखने बैठती, तो शायरी हार जाती।

ऐ हसीन लड़के, तेरा चेहरा किसी ख़्वाब से कम नहीं,
कुछ चेहरे आँखों में बसते हैं, कुछ दिल से जाते नहीं।
